bio

Born out of the worlds of psychedelic ceremonial music, 1980s synth-based New Age tapes, ambient, Berlin School, and space rock, Infinity Machine is the improvisational duo of Juan MacLean (John MacLean) and Gee Dee (Gregory Droggitis). After years of operating as a strictly underground live entity, their first releases were the numerically labeled cassettes 1, 2, and 3, all released on 02/23/2024 on DFA Records, which sold out immediately. With a nod towards predecessors like Can, Steve Roach, and the Grateful Dead, their studio recordings are calling cards for engagement in live performances that are largely improvisational.

Having played in settings as diverse as Making Time ∞ in Philadelphia, music venues like Brooklyn’s Public Records, the ambient series Passages in Philadelphia, and various underground spaces around New York City—where participants often lie down with eye masks on—the Infinity Machine experience is tailored to specific places in time, utilizing a diversity of instruments such as flutes, sequencers, sparkly synths, and an array of ceremonial instruments to create immersive sonic landscapes for deep listening and collective journeying.

Upcoming releases include the Angelic Ascent CD, to be released in November 2025, and the double LP Nightfall Offering, with a release date in April 2026.
